The event was held on June 06, from 08:30 to 13:00, at the Institute of Advanced Studies of the University of São Paulo (IEA-USP).
Digital Transformation is a concept that goes beyond the conjunction of the words. It is the use of technological resources to rethink the purpose, structure, and operation of a business. The result of the transformation may, or may not, have technology as one of its essential parts, but it is a new approach to business that affects both the individual and society.
The technology itself was not the main topic of this seminar. The seminar’s objective was to rethink how digital transformation can affect both the individual and society.
Digital transformation allows people to come up with new ways of doing things they were accustomed to (such as reinventing the forms of transportation) or, otherwise, to change the activities they perform in their daily lives (such as their relation to financial services). As an example, society changed the understanding and values usually given to a business such as bicycle rentals to something that could be seen as a shared transport solution for cities.
